We are a non-profit advocacy and support group promoting and supporting high-quality, equitable and accessible care during pregnancy, birth and beyond
The Hastings Maternity Coalition is a non-profit united group of local women aiming to promote and support high-quality, equitable and accessible care during pregnancy, birth and early parenting experiences. Our mission is to better meet the needs and choices of all women through evidence based information and being advocates for women-centred approaches and choices. We aim to unite individuals and organizations with backgrounds that are inclusive of but not limited to the hospital, homebirthing, medical and natural alternatives to support maternity care. The Hastings Maternity Coalition represents the interests of local maternity care consumers by researching the experiences of women, babies their families and health professionals. Through continued up to date research and evaluation, developing policy positions and encouraging critical and informed debate through our findings our mission is to meet the needs of the consumers regardless of their birthing and parenting choices. We see our role within the community to be twofold; focused on advocacy and education and to encourage women to be well-informed about their care and that of their babies by providing unbiased, evidence-based education and information.
